My Speech To Republican Convention Delegates
Below is the transcript of my speech to Republican Convention Delegates.
A few years ago, my family and I would go outside of an abortion clinic in Manassas, not to protest, but to pray.
One day a gentleman approached me and said, “Tim, we need to work like there’s no prayer, and pray like there’s no work.”
I asked him what he meant. He told me the abortion clinic was for sale.
So after we were done praying, we got to work.
With the help of many friends and neighbors, we raised the money to buy that abortion clinic. Today, where there once stood an abortion clinic, now stands a Pro-Life pregnancy center that provides free healthcare to women in Manassas.
I’m proud to say I was a small part of making a big difference, and I am running for Lieutenant Governor to make a difference again.
The Democrats’ policies are destroying Virginia. Businesses are closing and jobs are leaving.
Disrespect for law and order left Richmond covered in plywood, spray paint, and vulgarities.
We have a Governor who has casually talked about infanticide.
Far-left gun grabbers like Beto O’Rourke are coming to Virginia to campaign against our Second Amendment rights.
This is not the Virginia I want to leave to our children.
Edmund Burke said the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil was for good men and good women to do nothing.
2021 is the year for good men and good women to fight back and say we are tired of this liberal mess and we are going to push back.
In a few days, you have an important decision to make at our Republican Convention.
My opponents are nice people, but our records are very different.
One of my opponents voted to give illegal immigrants tuition assistance and driver’s licenses.
He voted for the biggest tax increase in Virginia history. He voted to expand Obamacare. And he voted for a budget that allows for taxpayer funded abortion.
My other opponent is also a nice person, but in 2018, after you as Republicans had voted to select your Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, she launched a write in campaign as an independent to torch his candidacy.
Tim Kaine is sitting in the United States Senate right now voting for higher taxes, more abortion, and to take your Second Amendment rights away thanks to one of my opponents.
What she did is the same thing that cost Ken Cuccinelli the Governorship in 2013, and it’s the same thing the ‘Never Trumpers’ did to President Trump.
It’s wrong.
I think you deserve an authentic and consistent conservative as your next Lieutenant Governor, and that’s why I am asking for your vote on May 8th.
I don’t ask you to take my word for it that I will be that consistent conservative. I ask you to take a look at my record.
For 17 years, I voted to protect life and the unborn.
For 17 years, I voted to protect your Second Amendment rights.
For 17 years, I voted against the tax increases and even passed a billion dollar tax cut before I left office.
And for 17 years, I protected our Commonwealth from the liberal policies that are now destroying our Commonwealth and always supported our Republican nominees because I knew they would stand alongside me in that fight.
We have got to step up right now and stop this liberal Democratic train in its tracks and send it back to where it came from.
Ladies and gentlemen, I want to be the consistent conservative who represents you as your next Lieutenant Governor and am humbly asking for your vote on May 8th.
Let’s work like there’s no prayer and pray like there’s no work.
God bless you, God bless the Commonwealth of Virginia, and God bless America.
